UNIMAID Desert Warriors defeats AAUA Luminaries in 2021 HIFL final

UNIMAID Desert Warriors of University of Maiduguri has beaten AAUA Luminaries in the final of 2021 edition of the Higher Institutions Football League tournament(HIFL).

UNIMAID Desert Warriors defeated Luminaries by a lone goal thanks to a 60th minute header by Elijah Francis in the encounter which was played at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex on Saturday, October 9.

The Akungba boys finished the tournament as the first runners up but made history as the first state-owned university to qualify for the Super Four and to play in the final of HiFL since 2018.

In the other match of the Super Four, UNN Lions of University of Nigeria, Nsukka defeated Federal University of Minna’s Transformers by two goals to one to finish the tournament as the second runners up.

HIFL is organized by Pace Sports and Entertainment Marketing Limited and the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA).
