‘There will be new innovation in the social life of all SOSSAITES’- Rhazzy

Students often have challenges combining class activities and social life effectively. It was therefore surprising that Ayanbade Olamide Raymond, known as Rhazzy, has devised new ways to curb the hindrances.

In an exclusive interview with AAUA INSIDER, the 400 level student of Economics department, who is aspiring to become the first Director of Socials for the newly-formed SOSSA, shares his thoughts.

Insider: HOW HAS IT BEEN CONVENIENT FOR YOU TO BE THE SOCIAL DIRECTOR OF YOUR DEPARTMENT AND ALSO A SONGWRITER?

Sincerely, it hasn’t been easy. I’ve just been focused on school and social director duties. But I added songwriting to my to-do list this semester. Hopefully, I get to put out some songs soon.

Insider: HOW HAS YOUR POSITION AS SOCIAL DIRECTOR CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR MUSICAL CAREER?

As the social director, I’ve been able to meet with other popular musicians on campus and some music producers who I hope to work with very soon. It has helped me secure the help and relationships that I would need in the future.

Moreso, during the departmental freshers’ orientation, we were able to perform and provide a platform for the new students at the event.

Insider: WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES FACED AS THE SOCIAL DIRECTOR AND HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO TACKLE IT?

Nothing much rather than financial issues. It’s not easy tackling them, but all thanks to God. Asides from the money allocated from the department, I tried to get sponsorships as well.

Insider: HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO WORK WITH YOUR FELLOW EXECUTIVES?

We work just fine. We disagree sometimes but we’re good together

Insider: WHAT DO YOU INTEND TO ACHIEVE IF ELECTED AS THE FACULTY’S FIRST SOCIAL DIRECTOR?

If I’m elected as the first social director, I intend to set a standard in the social terrain of the faculty. I’ll try to create a balance between the social aspect and education by creating an avenue for people to have fun and at the same time learn something new.

Insider: DO YOU BELIEVE IN GODFATHERISM?

It’s safe to say that godfatherism does not exist but I do not believe in that because I feel that students be left alone to decide who they want to lead them.

Insider: HOW DO YOU INTEND TO DEAL WITH THE SOCIAL LIFE OF THE STUDENTS IN THE FACULTY?

I’ve noticed over the years that there is little to what a social director can do to ignite the spark in students’ social life. I’m talking to you as the former social director for the Economics department. A social director can come up with several innovations but it still depends on the students to choose whether to take part in whatever the social director puts in front of them. But if I’m elected as the social director, I’ll be working with other executives and people in the social space of AAUA to deliver the best.

Insider: WHY DO YOU THINK YOU WILL BE VOTED FOR?

I’m only being hopeful they will vote for me, if SOSSAITES deem it fit that I’m capable to be their social director because above all their choice of who is capable matters. I’ll put in my best to serve them 100%

Insider: GIVE A MESSAGE TO ALL SOSSAITES

My message to all SOSSAITES is to learn to strike a balance between their education and extracurricular activities. As their number one priority is their education, they shouldn’t forget to have a little bit of fun.

Once again, I wish everyone a great session ahead.

  1. If striking a balance is your watch word in leading i think you’re setting a better pace for the future of your colleague. This will allow them pass thru the system while their social life isn’t a sham as well.
