South West Gold (SWG) Entertainment brand, an arguably student-owned brand by Ajayi Adekola, popularly known as MC Dekola has collaborated with the Social Director of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko Student Union (AAUASU) to rejuvenate the “One Mic” event on campus.
Part of the promises of the social director of the union, Emoruwa Adeoye Great, popularly known as Adegreat, is to elevate the social life of AAUA students. In lieu of this, Comrade Adegreat via his constitutional office joined forces with SWG.
The social event proudly supported by AAUA GIST, will hold at Old RC, opposite Olusegun Obasanjo (OBJ) hall by 12PM on every second and last Friday of the month.
According to MC Dekola, “One Mic event is a weekly event for AAUA students. It is all about entertainment and fun. You know the stress that comes with being a student now. So, it is just an avenue of cooling off the stress. Therefore, we have comedy, dance, music, magic and any other entertaining performances you can think of. It is always a lit atmosphere, because whenever we hold the event because the students love it.
“The brand is SWG Entertainment. As I said earlier, it is a show the students love so much, which we have been showing our little support in the organization since 2019, but due to COVID-19 pandemic, which caused the school to go on break and all, the event was paused. Now, that things are back to normal, it seems though the event is no longer existing. So we felt the need to bring it back to life and by God’s grace, we are going to be having the first edition this coming Friday in collaboration with SU Social Director, Comrade Adegreat.”
When asked why the Union is organizing the event, Comrade Adegreat said, “Well permit me to say this, One Mic has been in existence even before I was admitted into this great institution, we want to start in other to promote the activities on and off the campus, one is a free event, which normally holds every Friday.”
Comrade Adegreat affirmed that the event is an avenue for upcoming artistes to display their talents. He added that gifts would be shared at the event. “A lot of gift items are going to be shared by our sponsors; they are going to have loads of fun and lots more. It is also an avenue for upcoming artistes to showcase their talents.”
