A Student Union presidential aspirant, Akin-Ademola Emmanuel, popularly known as D’REAL, took it as a point of duty to organize tutorial for fresh students in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.
According to the aspirant, D’Real said he is ‘highly concerned with the academic performance of the students at large’, coupled with the sudden release of the resumption date and commencement of examinations.
The tutorial for 100 level students in the University was held on Monday, 22, 2021 at ETF 750. The aspirant and the tutor focused on the course, GST123A/B-GST Arabic and French.
It was discussed that most students are perplexed and perturbed about how to go about this period most especially 100 level students as a result of the long term break induced by the pandemic and the recent incident at the school gate in January this year.
Considering these factors and it negative effect on students resulting to poor knowledge of studies, the setting of this tutorial is purposely to revise and expound on that which seems to be inscrutable for the learners.
and other respondents on the 22ND of February, 2021 at ETF 750 one of the lecture theaters in the school, it was disclosed that the objective of the tutorial was to acquaint the students with their studies as regards the defect of the lockdown induced by Covid-19 in 2020.
While having dialogue with the organizer of the tutorial, he disclosed that he was highly concerned with the academic performance of the students at large which prompted him to organize a tutorial basically for 100 level students and not for his political ambition.
He said “Students have stayed home for long and can’t be predicted if they did read or not, so as a man that is concerned with the academic excellence of the students of AAUA, I decided to organize a tutorial”.
However, with the responses from the participants of the tutorial, it shows they were not satisfied with the large population at the venue.
Part of the challenges the students faced during the tutorial was the undefined noise accompanied with countless number of sudden failure of the public address system reaching the students at large, which was attended to by the was the organizer and promised never to let such happen any other time.
Speaking with this correspondent, he claimed that his path triggered other office holders and aspirants like him to as well organize the same because he was the first to organize such which he’s looking forward to doing as an innovator.
D’REAL added that “My blue print for the students of AAUA and Nigeria at large is that they should always endeavour to participate in extra curriculum activities and trades aside the academics because no one knows what could buoy one’s success but as well should take education paramount and stay focused in life”.
