Kamaru Usman retains UFC258 welterweight title

Nigerian UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman has retained his title with a third-round knockout win over challenger, Gilbert Burns, in UFC 258 in Las Vegas on Sunday.

The end came at 34 seconds of the third, when referee Herb Dean stepped in to halt it as Usman was pounding Burns from the top.

Kamaru Usman recorded his 13th straight wins since start of his UFC career, on tie with Khabib Nurmagomedov and only one behind Anderson Sliva.

The Nigerian nightmare has now won all 13 of his UFC fights and surpassed Georges St-Pierre for the longest winning streak at welterweight.

This was a very, very tough one because of the whole gym situation,” Usman said. “You cannot disrespect what Burns has done. We started together and he showed it tonight.”
