The President of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) Amaju Pinnick has thrown his support behind Super Eagles technical adviser, Jose Peseiro, to revamp the country’s national team and make them a footballing force to reckon with once again.
Super Eagles have failed to live up to fans’ expectations so far in the 2022 with Nigeria’s shocking exit from the 2021 AFCON in the round of 16 and the team’s failure to secure a ticket to the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Part of the efforts to restore Eagles’ lost glory led to the overhauling of entire coaching setups of the national team and the appointment of Peseiro as the lead member of the new coaching crew for the team.
Despite Nigeria 2-1 loss against El Tri in what was the Portuguese first match in charge of Super Eagles, Amaju Pinnick stated that he is excited about the way the team played yesterday and he believes that Peseiro is the right man to take the national team back to winning ways.
“I like what I saw today and I have confidence that we have appointed the right coach that can restore the glory of the Super Eagles and make them start winning once more,” he said after the game on Sunday morning.
The Super Eagles will look to put their bad start to 2022 behind them when the 2023 AFCON qualifiers begin in June.
