The General Secretary of the Student Union, Taiwo Oluwagbogo Joel, popularly known as Joelistic Joel, has assured the entirety of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) students of an imminent resumption.
Joelistic Joel added that the school will only resume when all the necessary things have been put in place to ensure the safety of the students.
Recall that the academic activities of the University is on a hiatus, after the fatal accident that claimed the lives of students and residents of Akungba on Saturday, January 23, 2021.
According to Mr Joel, part of the necessary things is the creation of a mammy market (mini-market), which has commenced.
He said, “We’ll only resume when all necessary things has been put in place to ensure maximum safety of the students.
“Some of the plans is ongoing already, the main gate will be closed permanently and the work to create a new route is ongoing already. The work on Mammy market too has started.
“We are doing everything possible to resume in due time but we have to find some solutions to the issues on ground to totally prevent further reoccurrence. Safety First!”
The Secretary of the union in his statement emphasized that the issue of NASU and SSANU strike is not in any way hindering the school from resuming neither are we involved in the strike.
“Nobody should bring SSANU/NASU strike into this, they are not the reason why we’ve not resume.”
He concluded the statement assuring AAUAites that the primary concern of the Union is the students’ safety
“Our concern is safety First, please.”
