The Students’ Union Electoral Commission (SUEC) of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 released the list of candidates for the 2020/2021 election.
According to SUEC, there the commission received a total of 17 candidates for the 10 positions in AAUASU.
Part of the data received from SUEC is each candidates Cummulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The chart below shows the candidates and their respective CGPA.
Two candidates were disqualified for not meeting up with the required CGPA. A candidate, Akinwalere Omoniyi Peter, also known as Neyor, the only candidate from the Faculty of Law, aspiring to assist in the secretariat had the highest CGPA of 4.56 while Oloruntoba Ayomide, also called Haywhy aspiring for the postion of financial secretary had the lowest CGPA of 2.20.
There are six faculties in AAUA. The chart below shows the number of candidates from each faculty
In the chart, five candidates emerged from Faculty of Social and Management Science, also known as SOMASSA. Faculty of Education also had five candidates. In the same vein, faculty of Science and faculty of Arts provided three candidates each. Only one candidate emerged from faculty of Law, while none of the 17 candidates is from faculty of Agriculture.
On the question of gender equality or inequality, the chart below shows the number of make and female candidates.
The chart above shows that there are 14 male candidates and three (3) female candidates. Two of the females are jostling for the position of the vice president of the union.
