Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko team, AAUA Luminaries have knocked UNN Lions of University of Nigeria, Nsukka out of the going Higher Institutions Football League tournament to qualify for the final of the competition.
Luminaries held UNN Lions to a draw in the semifinal second leg match at the Adekunle Ajasin Sports Complex today.
Recall that the first leg of the semi final match ended one-one, to give AAUA Luminaries an away goal advantage.
AAUA Luminaries blew away many chances to find the back of the net in the encounter.
Meanwhile, UNN Lions were down to ten men in second half as their defender was sent off in the 62th minute.
The encounter ended in a goalless draw after 90minutes of intense action.
Luminaries quality for the final thanks to an away goal advantage as the first leg ended in a one one draw in Enugu.
AAUA becomes the first state university to reach the final of the competition since the first season in 2018.
AAUA Luminaries will face University of Maiduguri’s UNIMAID Desert Warriors in the final next month in Lagos.
