2021 HIFL Tournament: AAUA Luminaries to face UNILAG Marines in quarterfinals

Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko men’s football team nicknamed the AAUA Luminaries will play the Akoka-based University of Lagos Men football team, UNILAG Marines in the quarterfinals at the ongoing Higher Institutions Football League tournament.

AAUA Luminaries qualified for the quarterfinals thanks to away-goal-rule after forcing OAU Giants to a one-all draw in second leg match in the round of 16 in Benin, as neither of the two teams could find the back of the net in the first leg encounter in Akungba.

Meanwhile, Federal University of Akure Men football team, FUTA Tigers gave UNILAG Marines an easy pathway to quarterfinals FUTA Tigers failed to honour the second leg of the round of 16 game in Lagos.

UNILAG Marines were awarded a (3-0) aggregate score line in accordance with the world football governing body(FIFA) rule.

UNILORIN Warriors will battle FUTMINNA Transformers; UAM Tillers play UNIMAID Desert Warriors as UNN Lions faces a tough test from UNIBEN Royals in the other quarterfinal fixtures.

The first leg of the quarterfinal matches is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, 25th August by 4 pm.

2021 Higher Institutions Football League (HiFL) is organized by PACE Sports and Entertainment Marketing Limited.
