Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba football team nicknamed “AAUA Luminaries” will travel to Ile-Ife to face Obafemi Awolowo University football team known as the OAU Giants on Wednesday, 4th of August for the return leg of the round of 16 clash in the ongoing 2021 season of the Higher Institutions Football League(HIFL) tournament.
Neither of the teams could find the back of the net at the end of 90minutes of play in the hotly contested first leg encounter that took place at the AAUA Sports Complex three weeks ago.
Going into the second leg of the highly anticipated match, AAUA Insider’s sports correspondent spoke with some AAUA Luminaries’ supporters, most of them considered Luminaries’ chances of defeating OAU Giants at home in the return leg of the round of 16 matches to qualify for the next round of the tournament as “very slim” with many pointing out that the “home advantage” will be a great factor that would work against the Ajasin varsity’s representative in the match.
However, few students expressed optimism that Luminaries can proceed to the next stage of the tournament stating that “it’s a game of football and we should expect anything to happen.”
The match is scheduled to take at the Obafemi Awolowo University stadium by 4 pm.
UNICAL Malabites will host UNIBEN Royals at home; LAUTECH Hunters will travel to Minna to face FUTMINNA Transformers as UNIMAID Deserts Warrior faces a tough test against BUK Stallions in other matches slated for the matchday.
