Health: Stress and Anxiety

From observations, it occurs that most students experience stress and anxiety from time to time.

Stress is the pressure placed on your brain or physical body. People are stressed when multiple tasks are placed on them. The feeling of being stressed can be triggered by an event that makes you feel frustrated or nervous.

Anxiety is a feeling of worry, fear or unease. It is a state of feeling nervous or worried about something. It can be a reaction to stress or it can occur in people who are unable to identify the major causes of stress in their daily life.

Stress and Anxiety are not always bad. In short term, they can help you overcome a challenge or dangerous situation. Examples of everyday stress and anxiety includes; feeling nervous before a test or examination or worrying about getting a job etc.

Most times if we do not experience some anxiety, we might not be motivated to do things that we need to do (for instance studying for a test or examination to pass with good grades).

However, if the stress and anxiety begins to interfere with your daily life it may indicate a more serious issue.

Stress and anxiety can result to  physical  symptoms like Muscle tension, Headache, Sweating, Shaking, Dizziness,  Frequent urination, Fatigue, Finding difficulty in sleeping.

Students who have stress over long period may experience negative related health outcomes.

What Causes Stress and Anxiety:

Starting a new school
Panic or nervousness
Finding it difficult to concentrate.
Anger.

Stress and Anxiety can cause mental and emotional symptoms when it occurs more frequently.

Lastly, you can learn more about taking care of your health when such issues arise. Discover ways to take a healthy approach to your wellness as well as understand issues like stress and anxiety when getting complicated. Get a lifestyle that supports healthy mind.

An assessment can help determine if stress and anxiety maybe having a negative impact on your life. When you feel that your health is starting to have negative results, it is time to seek for help and reach out for extra support.
