Claim: A viral post on WhatsApp has a claim tagged ‘STUDENT’S MUST SHOW SCHOOL FEE RECEIPT BEFORE ENTRANCE INTO EXAM HALL HENCEFORTH _AAUA VC’.
Verification
AAUA Insider first observed that the source of the viral post said to be a radio station in Ondo State, Adaba FM, does not claim the viral post. AAUA Insider also noted that there is a grammatical error in “student’s” instead of “students” in the post (student’s means student is while students mean more than one students).
AAUA Insider engaged the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Olusegun Owolewa, in a conversation. In the conversation, the dean said the students will show their receipts and ID cards in the examination. He added that students are not being sent out of the examination, however, students should pay their school fees. Nevertheless, actions might be taken on a student yet to fulfill his or her financial obligations from next week.
The Public Relations Officer of the Union, Adegbeyeni Oluwafemi confirmed the statement, however he said it is to make the students pay up their school fees as the portal will be officially closed on 17th July, 2021.
Verdict
The claim that students are to present their receipt and ID card at the entrance of the examination is misleading and the source of Adaba FM is false.
