The captain of the Nigeria national mens senior football team known as the Super Eagles Ahmed Musa has assured Nigerians that the team will once again cement Nigeria’s dominancy in African football by winning this year’s edition of the most prestigious tournament in the continent, the African Cup of Nation(AFCON) that is scheduled to kickstart in Cameroon starting on Sunday, 9 January 2022 to Sunday, 6 February 2022.
Ahmed Musa made this known while speaking during a virtual press conference, said the mission of the team is to go and win the title in Cameroon.
Musa who is Nigeria national mens team most capped player in Nigerian football history will lead the team to the showdown where he won the tournament in 2013.
Meanwhile,The three-time African champions who last won the trophy in 2013 drawn in group D will begin their campaign of the tournament when they face Mohamed Salah’s side The Pharaoh of Egypt on Tuesday 11th of January before playing Sudan four day later on the 15th and against Guinea Bissau on 19th of the same month in the final group game of the first round.
Unfortunately, Nigeria will be without the service of their informed striker Emmanuel Dennis after Premier League club Watford F.C announced they won’t release Dennis for the tournament citing the Nigerian Football Federation(NFF) failure to submit in time the documents necessary needed for the player’s release.
The squad will travel to Cameroon from Abuja where the team have been camping since last week.
