The most prestigious annual competition on campus, the AAUASU Games also known as the Vice Chancellor’s Cup, which is dedicated to sports men and women in each faculties of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko to compete against each other and claiming the bragging rights.
This year’s edition of the competition has come to conclusion after two weeks of fiercely contested games in each category, in which elites from each faculties competed against one another.
AAUA Insider earlier reported that Faculty Of Education won gold medal at the men’s football event after defeating Faculty Of Science 7:6 on penalty shootouts in the final.
Subsequently, Faculty Of Education also won gold in relay race event but were disqualified after feeding an external representative who is illegible to complete at event, first position was rescinded and the gold medals were awarded to Faculty Of Social and Management Sciences(SOMASSA) who came second in the event.
According to the results from the tournament obtained by AAUA Insider’s Sports Correspondent from the office of AAUASU Sports Director, in the event for Ayo Olopon, Akingbejo Omotayo of Faculty Of Law beat Ajakaye Damilola of SOMASSA to the gold medal award.
At the scrable event for the women’s category, Williams Beatrice of Faculty Of Education won the gold medal as Education also won gold medal at the scrabble event in the Men’s category after Samuel Akinruntan defeated Mohammed Babatunde of science in the final.
Faculty Of Education claimed their fourth gold medal in the competition through Jackson Oluwafemi at the Arm Wrestling event.
Alonge Oyewole of Law beat Fashiku Olawale Of Science to the podium in Table Tennis event for the men’s category while Akintunde Oluwasefunmi Ololade won gold medal in the women category.
Meanwhile, Ayorinde David of Science defeated Ajakaye Damilola of SOMASSA in the final of the Ludo event for the men’s category to win gold medal as Alfred Wemimo Teddy of SOMASSA won the gold medal at the women’s category after her victory over her opponent Folaranmi Oyindamola from Education.
Oki Hassan Victor got Faculty Of Law their third gold medal of the competition at the Draught event.
Faculty Of Education top the medal table at this year’s edition of the prestigious competition with five gold medals while Faculty Of Law sits second on the table three gold medals; Faculty Of Science occupy the third spot with a gold medal as both Faculty Of Arts and Faculty Of Agriculture came last with zero gold medal.
