Following the ghastly mishaps which claimed more than 20 students’ lives on January 23, the management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko has commenced efforts to create a mini market within the school premises.
This was disclosed in a circular signed by the University’s Acting Registrar, Mr. Opeoluwa Akinfenwa following the Senate meeting held on February 1. It stated that the School management are working harder in finding a lasting solution which include the closure and relocation of the Main Gate to the Sport Complex Gate.
Also, all hands are on deck as the management is accessing the feasibility of setting-up a Mini-market on campus to make it easy for student to procure food stuff, other consumable items and transact other business rather than going into the town.
Interested persons are urged to pay a sum of one thousand naira (N1,000) to apply for a space on the allocated site which will be the space adjacent of Faculty of Social and Management Sciences building.
The circular in full:
The University Management at its meeting of 1st February, 2021, while discussing the update on the truck accident that occurred in the front of the University’s Gate on Saturday, 23rd January, 2021, revisited its earlier decision to set-up a Mammy Market on campus, to make it easy for students to procure food stuff, other consumable items and transact other businesses rather than going to the town.
Management after further deliberation, identified the space adjacent to the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences as the location to be used for the Mammy Market where students can have access to purchase consumable items and food stuff easily.
In furtherance of the above, Management directed that members of the University community and the public who are interested in getting a space on this location are to pay a sum of one thousand naira (N1,000) for the application form to the Bursary Village in the Western Campus, please.
