The legislative arm of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko Student Union, also known as Student Representative Council (SRC) has reinstated the general secretary of the Student Union, Comrade Joelistic Joel.
The reinstatement of the earlier suspended general secretary was announced on Monday, May 31 2021 during the Student Representative Council Plenary session.
AAUA Insider reported that the legislative arm suspended Comrade Joelistic Joel over failing to ‘present statement of account and breakdown of expenditure, writing and pasting of an apology letters to all the notice boards across the school premises, after he had refused to present a statement of his account and breakdown of expenditure used for raising money for the dead and injured students during the accident that occurred on January 23 at the school main gate, when a Dangote truck rammed into shops to claim lives of students and residents of Akungba land.”
The report read, “The committee to look into allegations leveled against the students union general secretary which are; Violation of section 34, sub section IV of the Students Union constitution and the Violation of section 34, sub VI of the students union constitution.”
In its view, the committee discovered that the General Secretary has neither presented a statement of account and breakdown of expenditures as regards the first offence and that he has refused to paste an apology letter as directed by the SRC as regards the second offence.
While speaking with the Senate President, Amodu Abiola known as Eja nla said, “Though the SRC accused of refusal to drop statement of account which he was used to receive donation for the victims involved in the January 23rd accident, to give the breakdown of the donation received were spent as well as his refusal to paste apology letters as instructed by the SRC for posting a derogatory statement against students of AAUA on his WhatsApp status but he has done the needful by writing an apology letter on all notice board on Campus in which he has done.
Following his reinstatement, the Assistant General Secretary, Comrade Olaiya Anthony was asked to handover all the document which is related to the office of the General Secretary to be given back to him with immediate effect.
During an interview with the Senate President this afternoon, he said the AAUASU Gen Sec, comrade Joelistic Joel has been reinstated successfully after fortifying all the necessary things needed.
