AAUA Resumption: Proper Planning and Preparation for Students Examination, COVID-19 Preventive Measures

After Nigeria recorded her first case of COVID-19 — part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease — on the 27 February 2020, when an Italian citizen tested positive of the virus in Lagos.

After several cases in major states in Nigeria, the Federal Government (FG) in a statement released by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono on 27 March ordered the indefinite suspension of social and religious gatherings and the closure of schools.

The precautionary move was aimed at curtailing the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in the country, the Federal Ministry of Education ordered the immediate closure of all educational institutions, which includes, tertiary, secondary and primary schools nationwide.

Prior the outbreak of Corona virus and the closure of all school nationwide, Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko students were on two weeks mid- semester break, which was announced by the school management in a circular released on 8th March 2020.

Ondo State government announced Monday 19th October as resumption of schools, which makes all the tertiary institutions in the state to start disinfecting and fumigating all their facilities.

The management of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA) Ondo State, in particular are on a best practice to stop COVID-19 transmission, in a strapline “No Nose Mask, No Entering”.

Now that the resumption of school is at the corner, the school management should try to put all the necessary things together for the proper arrangement of student’s examination, the school management should provide enough hand sanitizer and enough testing facilities for the students’ resumption.

The students should follow all the COVID-19 preventive measures, which includes (i) social distancing (ii) wearing of nose mask (iii) stay home if you feel unwell (iv) washing of hand with hand sanitizer and others.

It is also expedient for all Head of Departments should carry out seminars on how to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

It is pertinent that students prepare ahead of resumption and adhere to all the preventive measures of COVID-19, while awaiting the resumption circular from the school.
