Auspicious students and members of the AAUA Literary and Debating Society in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), yesterday, met with the management of the University after clinching the first runner-up position at the National Debate 2022.
The debate team consisting of the president, Abdul Haqq Mutairu; Vice President, Williams Diwura; and an executive member, Blessing Amodu were received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige, the Registrar, the Bursar and the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Akanbi Olusegun Matthew.
While congratulating the team, Professor Ige promised maximum support for the team.
AAUA Insider earlier reported that the student debaters of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko have been selected to represent South West in a National debate organized by Monday Diamond Foundation after competing with different Universities to emerge winners in the Southwest.
The trio won a sum of N300,000 as the first runner-up position at the Monday Diamond Foundation, National Debate 22 having represented the Southwest region at the Grand finale.
In a social media post, the founder of the AAUA Literary and Debating Society, Adesola Ikulajolu said the win is not about the creation of the debating society.
“This is another significant highlight for the Debate Team (set up in June 2021) as this marks the beginning of the journey to academic embrace.
“We look forward to more support to boost the confidence of students in academic activities.
“We can now be rest assured that the stress we passed through, the discouragements that came, the lack of support, the risk we went through- while representing the university in previous competitions is now taken care of,” Adesola posted on Facebook.
