2022 HiFL Championship: FUOYE Dazzlers to meet KSU Steelers in Saturday’s final

FUOYE Dazzlers from Federal University of Oye-Ekiti will lock horns with KSU Steelers from Kogi State University in the final of the 2022 Higher Institutions Football League(HiFL) Championship on Saturday.

Both teams are in the final for the first time.

FUOYE Dazzlers made it into the final after the team launched a 60-page petition to the organisers of the competition alleging that DELSU Titans fielded an ineligible during their semi final clash between both teams that saw the former losing the match.

After investigation by the organisers, DELSU Titans were found guilty and thrown out of the final and subsequently received a three years ban from participating in the next three editions.

Meanwhile, KSU Steelers qualified for the final of this year’s edition after defeating UNILORIN Warriors from Ilorin 1-0 in the other semi final fixture.

The final of the annual tournament is commonly called the Super 4, which will also feature the third place match and will be shown live on both DStv and GOtv.

UNN Lions from University of Nigeria Nsukka will face UNILORIN in the third place match.

Both matches will take place at Yabatech Sports Pavilion, Lagos State on September 24th, 2022.

FUOYE Dazzlers will hope to surpass the feat achieved by AAUA Luminaries in the last edition when the team become the first State University and an institution from South West Nigeria to make it to the final of the HiFL(excluding eFootball edition).
